Privacy Policy

Overview

Prompt Helper ("we", "us", "our") provides an AI prompt enhancer and generator available as a web app at promptgenerator.fyi and as a Chrome extension. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information we collect

Account information (optional): If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google user ID, email address, and display name from Google's userinfo endpoint. This is used to identify your account and sync your subscription.

Prompt data: When you use the generator, your prompt text and the selected mode/style are sent to our backend (Cloud Run) for enhancement. We do not store your prompts on our servers — they are processed in real time and returned to you.

Usage data: We track how many enhancements you have used this week so we can enforce the free-tier limits. If you are not signed in, this count is stored on our servers against an anonymous identifier assigned to your browser. If you sign in with Google, the count is stored against your Google account, and any guest usage in the same browser is carried over to your account at that point. We do not use your usage data for advertising, and we do not sell or share it.

Payment information: If you upgrade to Pro, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status in our database (Firestore).

Local storage: We store your user ID, an anonymous browser identifier, your prompt history, and your preferences in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device. The authoritative weekly usage count lives on our servers, not in the browser, so that it cannot be reset by clearing browser data.

How we use your information

• To provide and improve the prompt enhancement service.
• To identify your account and sync your subscription across devices.
• To process payments and manage subscriptions via Stripe.
• To enforce free-tier usage limits.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google Sign-In: For authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Stripe: For payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Google Gemini API: For prompt enhancement. Prompts are sent to Google's Gemini API for processing.
• Google Analytics (GA4) and Google AdSense: Measurement and advertising. See Cookies below and how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
• GitHub Pages: For hosting. Subject to GitHub's Privacy Statement.

Data retention

Account and subscription data is retained as long as your account is active. Weekly usage counts are retained for the current week and then replaced by the new week's count; anonymous counts are removed once they have been carried into an account or when the week ends. You can request deletion of your data by contacting us. Local storage data can be cleared by clearing your browser data, but note that clearing it gives you a new anonymous identifier and therefore a new guest allowance — signing in with Google is what ties your usage to your account.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction or deletion of your data.
• Opt out of data sale (we don't sell data).
• Withdraw consent for data processing.

To exercise these rights, email the address below from the address on your account. We will confirm your identity and respond within 30 days.

Delete your data

On this device: Delete local data removes your prompt history, preferences and sign-in token from this browser.

Account and server records: email support@promptgenerator.fyi with the subject “Delete my account and data”. We delete your account record, usage counts and subscription link. Stripe retains payment records as required by tax law, and you should cancel any active subscription first from Pricing → Manage billing.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

We do not set our own tracking cookies. We do use Google Analytics (measurement) and Google AdSense (advertising), which load on our pages and may set cookies or use similar identifiers, such as _ga and _ga_* for analytics and ad-related cookies for AdSense, and may collect your IP address, device and page-view information. Ads may be personalised.

Your options: turn off ad personalisation in Google Ad Settings, install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on, or use a browser or extension that blocks trackers and ads. Stripe and Google may also set cookies during sign-in and checkout.

Children's privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
